Scott Michell joins OpenGeoSolutions

Calgary, Canada (20 September 2023) — OpenGeoSolutions (OGS), a leading provider of seismic processing services, objective seismic characterization, and seismic visualization for exploration and production (E&P) companies, today announced the appointment of Scott Michell as Executive Vice President of Business Development at OGS.

In his new role, Scott will help build upon existing relationships and develop new relationships and new ways of working with our customers and technology partners.

Scott joins OGS with 31 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, initially with Conoco, then BP, with the last 3 years at TGS.

At TGS Scott served as Senior Vice President Imaging overseeing processing, imaging and R&D activities with focus on enhancing TGS’ client interactions, technology portfolio, and creating a system of delivery through hybrid on-prem and cloud-based computing systems.

At BP Scott served in a range of senior leadership roles focused on developing and applying seismic acquisition and imaging technology solutions to reduce exploration, appraisal, and production risk. Some of Scott’s career highlights include his role at BP as Global Seismic Delivery Manager and Director of Geophysics, and leading the seismic imaging technology program in the U.S., and Seismic Delivery Manager for 3 of BP's key regions - Gulf of Mexico, U.S. lower 48 and Alaska.
